Traveling North to Glasgow, Subculture has been a staple in Scottish nightclub culture since it first opened. With a party every Saturday night, this incredible basem*nt venue keeps the music going until the early hours.
As the name suggests, don’t expect a trip down “generic EDM lane” when visiting; Subculture prides itself on championing a multitude of genres, ranging from hardcore, to dance hall, club classics, and quite literally everything in between.
TEAK
In the heart of Cardiff, you will find the spectacular TEAK. Found in the basem*nt of an antiques emporium, TEAK has been one of the places to be in Wales for many years now, and is often the best party you will find on the weekend.
Playing an eclectic mix of house, technic, disco, acid, and many more genres, TEAK may not be known for bringing in big DJs, but it is known for always putting on an unforgettable party that will leave you wanting more.
Mixtape Project
Mixtape Project may not be as well-known as some of the other clubs on this list, but this Leeds stalwart has been making waves for a while now. Don’t ask what they play, as most will describe the music as “can’t be categorized.”
Not only is the music super-unique and fun, but so are the patrons. The atmosphere feels friendly and safe, and you are always guaranteed a great night of dancing, delicious drinks, and even better company no matter when you visit.
Illegal Data
Found in Bristol, Illegal Data is the perfect mix of expertly curated playlists, with a much-needed hit of DIY. The club plays host to both DJs and live performers; music here ranges from underground electro, to grime and hyperpop.
While Illegal Data isn’t a club itself, and more of a party that is put on regularly, the venue changes depending on the day. This means that no two nights of Illegal Data are the same, guaranteeing a new and exciting party all the time.
Miss World
Miss World is a unique club in the sense that it is fully operated by women and non-binary individuals. Found in the heart of the historic city of Edinburgh, Miss World fits perfectly into the more artsy and “off the beaten path” nature of the area.
The club plays music from across the spectrum of electronica, including techno, disco, breaks, and much, much more. If you want an accepting yet exceptionally fun space, no matter your taste, Miss World is certainly worth a visit.
The Warehouse Project
Found in Mayfair Depot in Manchester, The Warehouse Project has been hosting world-class party nights for over 17 years. Catering to lovers of drum and bass, house, and techno, plenty of huge names have had sold-out shows here, including the likes of Disclosure and Jamie XX.
What sets The Warehouse Project apart from the other clubs on this list is the sheer size of it. Holding upwards of 10,000 people, a party here feels more like a festival than a club night, which only adds to the entertainment and overall incredible experience.
EggLondon
Another name that many Londoners and visitors will be familiar with is Egg. The club is based in a renovated Victorian warehouse, and comprises five different rooms. Similar to a club you would find in Ibiza, Egg has an outdoor area, a banging sound system, and a massive dance floor.
Specializing in bringing you some of the best techno and house classics, as well as underground sounds you have definitely not heard before, Egg is one of those clubs you get to early, and not leave until someone has to drag you out.
