Margaret Cooper Nailer

Formerly of Guntersville

Mrs. Margaret Cooper Nailer, a resident of Ozark, died late Sunday evening, June 16, 2024, at the home of her daughter. She was 76.

Celebration of Life services will be announced at a later date. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nailer, daughter of the late Harry Cooper and Beauna Ruth Russell Cooper, was a native of Albertville. She formerly lived in Guntersville before moving to Ozark in July 2023. Mrs. Nailer was a 1966 graduate of Boaz High School and was formerly employed with the State of Alabama, Department of Transportation, as an engineer assistant in Oneonta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Nailer; son, Mark Nailer; sister, Ramona Ham; and brother, Louie Cooper.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Stacey Gary (John) of Albertville and Mandy Gilley (Robert) of Ozark; son, Brian Nailer of Jasper; two sisters, Gail Carroll and Rebecca “Becky” Cooper; brother, Steve Cooper (Tina); five grandchildren, Hannah Martin (Jessie), Luke Gary (Haley), Naomi Gary, Ashley Toole (Michael) and Josh Gilley; eight great-grandchildren, Raelyn Gary, Riley Gary, Emma Martin, Sam Martin, Lucas Martin, Sophia Toole, Skyle Toole and Sawyer Toole; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Boaz

Carol Moore, 79, of Boaz died Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

She is survived by her son, Joe Van Kilpatrick and Amy Cassels of Boaz; and five grandchildren.

Ernest Wayne Garrison

Albertville

Ernest Wayne Garrison, 82, of Albertville passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda Garrison; sons, Chris and Wes (Jennifer); four grandchildren; siblings, Joan (Edward) Moore and Ronnie (Marcella) Garrison; along with several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1. Burial will follow at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery in the Nixon Chapel community.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.

Hubbard “Bob” Cledith Chapman II

Boaz

Hubbard “Bob” Cledith Chapman II, 69, of Boaz passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Huntsville Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Christina Chapman; children, Hubbard Cledith (Melissa) Chapman III, Justin Garwood (Emily) Chapman and Kerri (Anthony) Gauna; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Sacagawea Lee Minor and Margo Blackwell.

His funeral service was Friday, June 21, 2024, at Bethsaida Baptist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Mike Johnson officiated.

John Earl Roden Sr.

Albertville

John Earl Roden Sr., 83, of Albertville, formerly of Peabody, Massachusetts, where he resided for 60 years, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, in his home.

He is survived by his daughters, Debby (Brian) Richardson and Darlene (Bruce) Shapiro; son, John Roden Jr.; two grandchildren; siblings, Jeanette Creel, Reba Cox and Carol Creel; special friend, Bobbie Edmonds; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

His funeral service will be Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Pankey officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 9 a.m. Service and burial in Peabody, Massachusetts, will be announced at a later date.

Juanita Pegues Bright, 64, of Albertville passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Marshall Medical Center North.

She is survived by her son, Chance Bright; sisters, Helen Gamble, Patricia Pegues and Allison Pegues Scott (Duan); a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date.

Leon Walls, 74, of Boaz passed away at home on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patti Walls; son, Jeremy Walls (Scott Stover) of Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter, Melanie Jacobs (Johnny) of Boaz; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; brother, Gary Walls (Diann) of Boaz; sister, Flonnie Bellamy of Gadsden; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service was Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Etowah Memorial Chapel. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Phillip Fowler officiated.

Mary Alice McMullins Wells

Mary Alice McMullins Wells, 81, of Guntersville passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Marshall Medical Center North.

Her funeral service will be Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Albertville Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Beulah Cemetery. Rev. Tony Holcomb will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bill Key, Jonathon Wells, Nathan Key, Matthew Charles, Corey Yarbrough, Jason McCullars and Stanley Sumners. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 at the funeral home before the service.

She is survived by her children, Debra Yarbrough, Chuck (Norma) Wells and Michelle (Bill) Key; grandchildren, Corey Yarbrough, Jonathon (Brittaney Cochran) Wells, Destin (Matthew) Charles and Nathan, Emily and Jared Key; eight great-grandchildren; sister; Sarah Shrader; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Wells; parents, William and Alma McMullins; and brothers, Kenneth McMullins and JW McMullins.

In honor of Nana’s special grands and great-grand, Corey, Jared and Hudson, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Nana’s memory be made to The Maker’s Child.

Mary Ruth “Nanny” Bishop, 85, passed away Friday, June 14, 2024, at her home in Boaz.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.

She is survived by her children, Anthony Bishop (Michelle), Rhonda Bishop, Rebecca Beck (Todd) and Amanda Betterton (Mark); her brother, Willie Bailey; her sister, Lillian Watkins; 10 grandchildren; and her honorary grandchildren.

Nancy Terrell Renfroe, 72, of Douglas passed away Monday, June 17, 2024, at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.

She is survived by her children, Kelley Terrell, Lisa Mullins (David) and Jimmy Terrell; husband, Raymond Renfroe; stepchildren, Lee Renfroe (Sherry), Dennis Renfroe (Charlotte) and Barbara Dobbins (Joey); two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her siblings, Kenneth Fleming, Sandra Artale and Tommy Fleming; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. Burial followed at Douglas Cemetery.
